This year's event, slated for June 23 at Wait Park in Canby, will feature a combined effort

Molalla and Canby will combine efforts for the 2018 Relay for Life in June.

Get ready for the 2018 South Clackamas County Relay for Life sponsored by the American Cancer Society. This year's event has a little twist – and some combining of efforts.

The Canby and Molalla Relay events have merged with a new name. Joint planning is well underway with new fun, exciting and inspirational events set for June 23 at Wait Park in Canby. The Relay will run from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with the theme of "The Great American Block Party."

The joint committee hopes to see Canby and Molalla teams returning in 2018 as well as welcoming many new teams joining us in our effort to raise money in support of the American Cancer Society services.

"It's such a fun, inspirational family, friends and community event enhancing and supporting the important work of the ACS," said Carol Meeuwsen, who has helped organize the Canby event. "This includes new breakthrough cancer research and treatments, free lodging for cancer patients near their treatment center, a 24/7/365 live hotline, and free rides to treatments.

The first teams meeting is set for Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Smyrna Church of Christ located, 31119 S. Hwy. 170 in Canby.

Everyone is welcome to attend for information and questions regarding the event, forming a team, fundraising, events at the Relay and more
