Colton Corner: Historical Society explores road names history
At the recent meeting of the Colton Historical Society, Lonnie Johnson gave a presentation on the history of road names in the area. He also said he was having a hard time tracing the accuracy of names due to the county charging $25 per search of records. And although there will always be the debate on Schieffer and Schaeffer, the road past the middle school was originally Old Colton Road—and I am sticking to it.
Families and individuals who have lived in Colton for more than 50 years are asked to write an account of their family, homes and school years to keep the history of Colton from disappearing. The next meeting will be a Tuesday evening with the date still to be set.
