For the first time ever, voters have a say on funding Molalla Pool operations through Measure 3-516, Molalla Aquatic District.

To the editor:

I'm voting for Measure 3-516 on the May 16 ballot, the measure that, if passed, will create a Molalla Aquatic District with funding to operate the Molalla Pool. I appreciate that there's been an effort to get a pool in this community since the 1950's. I'm glad it finally got built with approval from the school district voters in 2000. I'm sorry that the pool closed in 2014. Many of us have been working toward re-opening it.

The pool is good for our community. It's good for our kids Water exercise is sometimes the only way that our elderly, injured or disabled folks can maintain or regain mobility. Water exercise improves fitness at all ages.

Contrary to rumor, the Molalla Pool is the preferred length, 25 yards, for competitions. Dual and district meets have been held here.

Now, for the first time, voters in the whole school district are getting a chance to vote on funding and governance focused only on the operation of Molalla Pool.

Please vote yes on Measure 3-516.
