The Challenge of Champions Tour is coming to the Buckeroo Grounds on Saturday, Aug. 3, for the Molalla Chute-Out bull riding.

Jason Mattox, the event organizer, says it’s important for him to preserve the Western heritage in the Northwest and provide great events for cowboys to flourish.

“I want our area and even my own children to know what a positive influence rodeo and bullriding can have on the lives of those involved,” Mattox says. “Cowboys are a family, and we love to work hard and help each other. It’s no secret that we love to have fun too. This event will meet your expectations of a great family outing.”

The Molalla Chute-Out will have 35 professional bull riders aboard the Northwest best contractor’s bulls. There also will be 10 junior bull riders.

The night before the Chute-Out, a fundraiser is being held for the family of Sgt. Michael Ristau, a bull rider who died in Afghanistan in 2012. The fundraiser will give people a chance to meet the bull riders and bowl with them.

Tickets for the Chute-Out are available in advance for $12 and are $15 at the gate. Children five and under are admitted free. The entry fee to bowl with a bull rider is $25, $20 of which will go to the Ristau family.
