The Colton Vikings’ girls basketball team began their season with a huge 81-29 win at home over the Delphian Dragons, from the 2A Northwest League, on Wednesday.

“It was a good first game for us,” Coach Kyle Gilstad said. “It gave us a chance to practice what we've been doing for the last two weeks and run our plays against an opponent instead of each other.”

“The girls did well and I am very excited to get this season underway,” Gilstad said. “They continued that type of play into the Country Christian Jamboree and had a pretty good showing there as well.”

While the girls opened the season strong, they did suffer an early loss due to injury. During the Jamboree, freshman Rachel McCoy injured her knee and will be off the court for an unknown amount of time.

While the girls were stomping the Dragons at home, the boys beat the Dragons 39-30 on the road.
