Ballots go out in the mail May 3

For special district elections

Ballots for the May 21 special district election will be mailed out Friday, May 3.

The election features two money measures: the Culver bond levy for $9.75 million for safety improvements and refinancing of debt on property purchased for future expansion; and the Madras Aquatic Center’s operating levy of 40 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.

Fifty-nine candidates will also be on the ballot for 20 special districts in the county — including school, fire, emergency medical services, hospital, water, aquatic center, and road districts.

According to Kathy Marston, Jefferson County clerk, the last day for new voters to register is April 30.

“They can update registration through election day,” she said, noting that those updating their registration can fill out a new registration card online at oregonvotes.gov.

“They have to have a driver’s license or ID card to update online,” she added.

Marston advised those who have moved to call the clerk’s office at 541-475-4451 to update their addresses. “Ballots are not forwardable,” she said.
