Put ballots in mail by May 17

For May 21 election

by: SUSAN MATHENY - Madras Aquatic Center supporters waved campaign signs last Friday at the U.S. Highway 26/97 intersection. The demonstraters were showing their support for the upcoming vote on an operation levy for the MAC Recreation District.Ballots for the special districts election are due at the county clerk’s office, or drop boxes by 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 21.

County Clerk Kathy Marston said, “We sent out 10,027 ballots. We’ve gotten more registrations – the community’s growing.” Voters can make address changes up to and including Election Day.

“If they’ve not received a ballot yet, be sure and contact our office,” Marston said, noting they have already gotten quite a few ballots returned.

“I’d suggest that people not mail their ballots after Friday, May 17,” she said. Instead, they can take them into the clerk’s office in the courthouse annex, or place them in one of five 24-hour drop boxes located at: Culver and Metolius city halls, the courthouse annex parking lot, in Warm Springs by the fire station, and at the Crooked River Ranch administrative building.

“People can update their registration if they are registered in another county in the state, but they may not register to vote in this election. The last date to do that was April 30,” Marston said.
