Police seek info on shooting

Victim shot in residence


Following the report of a shooting just before midnight on Monday, May 27, officers with the Madras Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Southeast Ninth Street.

The victim, Roberto Cortez, 29, of Madras, had been shot and injured inside the residence. Cortez was transported by the Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services to St. Charles Madras, for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries. He was later transported to an undisclosed hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Madras police, who have not made any arrests in connection to the incident, processed the scene and recovered evidence. The Madras Police Department are actively investigating the shooting.
