Pi-Ume-Sha this weekend

by: FILE PHOTO - Dancers take part in the grand entry at the Pi-Ume-Sha  in 2012.The 44th annual Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days will draw native dancers from far and wide for three days of competition and events June 28-30, in Warm Springs.

The huge powwow celebrates the 158th year since the signing of the treaty that established the Warm Springs Reservation.

Grand entry times are 7 p.m., Friday, 1 p.m., Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Don’t miss the parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, down the Hollywood Bulivard to the powwow grounds near the community center. The rodeo gets under way at 1 p.m., both Saturday and Sunday, at the rodeo grounds on Highway 3 on the way to Kah-Nee-Ta.

Other Pi-Ume-Sha events include an endurance horse race, stick game tournament, golf tourney, fun run, boxing, men and women’s softball and special museum exhibit.
