Madras woman injured in crash

On ONeil Highway

A Madras woman was injured in a crash early Saturday on Northwest O'Neil Highway in Crook County.

On July 6, at approximately 7:09 a.m., deputies from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to milepost 15 on the highway to a reported motor vehicle crash.

Upon the arrival of deputies, a gray SUV was found in an irrigation ditch located along O’Neil Highway. It appeared that the SUV had rolled at least once. Deputies contacted the driver who was identified as 32-year-old Arcenia Reynoso Villagomez, of Madras.

After an investigation, it was found that Villagomez was traveling to Prineville via the O’Neil Highway, and fell asleep at the wheel before crossing into oncoming lane and rolling her vehicle into the irrigation ditch.

Villagomez was transported via ambulance to Pioneer Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained from the crash. She was also cited for careless driving and driving while suspended violation.

The highway was temporarily closed to remove the SUV from the irrigation ditch. No hazardous materials were leaked into the irrigation ditch.

The Crook County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Crook County Fire and Rescue, Oregon State Police, and STAR Towing.
