Garden Depot to close

After three years in business, the Madras Garden Depot will be closing its garden center Oct. 31, located at 60 N.W. Depot Road.

The closing will involve significant discounts on all merchandise including perennials, grasses, trees, shrubs, pottery and hard goods. The fixtures and equipment are currently not a part of the closing sale.

Madras Garden Depot has operated as a partner-owned business by Karen McCarthy and Susan Mobley since March of 2011. Previous to that, both Susan and Karen were employed in the same location by the CHS Garden Center which was established in 2008.

Over the past three years, the Madras Garden Depot has supplied the Jefferson County gardening community and beyond, with a broad selection of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs and related landscaping supplies, as well as ornamental garden accents.

Despite the Garden Depot’s best efforts to do business in a difficult location during a persistently tough economy, the company has decided to close its gates. “The Garden Depot very much wants to thank our loyal customers for supporting our business over the past three years. We have had a great time stocking and growing plants that survive and flourish in our climate and do well for our customers.,” said McCarthy.

“The events we have hosted at the nursery have also brought us closer to knowing you. We are very saddened to have to close but hope our customers (and their friends) will take advantage of the final sale event, which will feature extraordinary savings on all our inventory,” she added. Customers will find significant discounts on all remaining inventory with savings ranging from 50 to 70 percent off. (Please note: consigned merchandise is not on sale.) Madras Garden Depot will honor their gift cards throughout the month of September 2013. All sales made on or after September 3rd 2013 will be final.
