First baby of 2014 arrives


Merchants offer prizes

As winners of the New Baby Contest, the Hordichoks win a long list of gifts from local businesses.Emy Louise Hordichok, who arrived at 8:55 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3, to parents Lanisha and Tyler Hordichok, of Madras, was the first baby of 2014 born at St. Charles Madras, and winner of the Pioneer’s New Baby contest.

At birth, Emy weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces, and measured 20 inches in length. She joins sisters, Zoe, 2, and Mia, 1, at home.

The grandparents are Holly Hordichok and the late Ron Hordichok of Molalla, Norita Egbert of Terrebonne, and Lance and Kelly Goicoa of Madras.

Her mom works as an emergency room nurse at St. Charles Madras, and her dad commutes to work shifts as a paramedic and firefighter for the city of Salem.

As the New Baby Contest winner, Emy will receive gift certificates for prizes from: Black Bear Diner, Ralph’s TV and Furniture, The Outpost, AirLink, Erickson’s Thriftway, St. Charles Madras Gift Shop, Figaro’s Pizza, and the Madras Pioneer.
