Bend bank robber from Madras

Arrested near Prineville

A Madras man, Robert Chester Short, 54, has been arrested in connection with last Thursday’s bank robbery in Bend, according to Bend police.

He was arrested April 28, at a campground on Highway 27 south of Prineville. Police indicated a note demanding money was the key that led to Short’s arrest.

On April 24, a man in sunglasses and wearing a bandanna robbed the northeast Bend branch of Home Federal Bank and was able to evade a police search and tracking dog. Police recovered a handwritten note and tracked information on the note.
