Warm Springs VFW post breaks ground on memorial

The Warm Springs Veterans Memorial Park will be located on the grounds of the Museum at Warm Springs.

BILL VOLLMER - With Native ceremony, amid the spirit of honor and valor, ground was broken Saturday on the Warm Springs Veterans Memorial Park, to be built upon the Museum of Warm Springs grounds. The project was initiatied and has been driven by the Warm Springs-based Elliot Palmer Post 4217 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. 
The Warm Springs-based Elliot Palmer Post 4217 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars broke ground May 13 on the Warm Springs Veterans Memorial Park, to be built on the Museum of Warm Springs grounds.

The project was initiatied and has been driven by the VFW, will include a memorial to honor Warm Springs veterans of United States major conflicts, from the early scouts to the war on terrorism.

Plans call for the memorial to display all branches of service seals along with seven flags. There will be 10 pillars with the names of veterans inscribed, denoting the conflict served.

The veterans are also selling bricks to help raise funds for construction. A standard 4-by-8-inch brick is $150 and a 8-by-8-inch brick is $250, with the price to include engraving. For further information, call the post at 541-771-2564.
