With the 2017 solar eclipse fast approaching, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office wants the public to be as informed as possible about emergencies.
The sheriff's office will be utilizing the Frontier Regional Alert program, through Everbridge, to provide daily messages to inform county residents on traffic issues, such as areas to avoid, and provide real-time information, according to Emergency Manager Mark Carman.
If you're not signed up yet it's time to get registered. Simply go to one of the following websites to begin the process: www.co.jefferson.or.us/sheriff or www.jcfd-1.org.
Once on one of the websites, the logo "Frontier Regional Alert" will appear. Click on the logo to begin the sign-up; it only takes a few minutes. The alert program allows you to register different devices and the way you receive the message: cell, text, email, home phone, etc. It is recommended you sign up at least two devices.
If you need assistance or do not have access to a home computer, contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 541-475-6520.
"Remember, if we can't reach you, we can't alert you," said Carman.
