Man robs local bank shortly after eclipse
Investigators have identified a suspect in the Monday afternoon robbery at U.S. Bank, in downtown Madras. Tyler Fuller, 28, whose last known address is Madras, is sought in connection with the incident.
While the streets of Madras were packed with visitors and Fourth and Fifth streets were nearly at a standstill after Monday's total eclipse, the suspect is believed to have held up the bank.
Just two minutes before 2 p.m., the Madras Police Department received a report that an adult male had walked into the bank at 42 SW C St., between Fourth and Fifth streets, and demanded money from a teller.
The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of money, and the suspect left the bank.
The Madras Police Department is investigating, assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other agencies in the area for the Aug. 21 eclipse.
"Law enforcement is actively seeking Fuller in order to arrest him on charges of robbery in the second degree, as well as theft in the second degree," said Sgt. Steve Webb.
Anyone with information on Fuller's whereabouts or individuals he may be associating with is encourged to contact Detective Dan Farrester at the Madras Police Department at 541-475-2424.
"If you see Fuller, do not attempt to contact him yourself, but dial 911 and provide dispatchers with information," noted Webb.
Fuller is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
