Do you know an Amazing Kid?
Do you know an amazing kid who puts the needs of others before his or her own? Or has overcome hardship, but still perseveres to make a difference in the community?
If so, that kid would be a great candidate to be honored as a 2018 Pamplin Media Group Amazing Kid.
The deadline for submission is Wednesday, Feb. 28.
The Madras Pioneer's Amazing Kid's story will be shared in a special section distributed through the Pamplin group's 20 newspapers and read by more than 400,000 readers throughout Oregon.
All the Amazing Kids will be honored at a gala event in May, hosted by the Pamplin Media Group and featuring a celebrity keynote speaker.
Now in its fifth year, Amazing Kids highlights the work young people are doing to make a difference in local communities.
The special section has featured Gavin Begay, of Warm Springs, who mentored other Native American youths, Gregg Vineyard, of Madras, a talented musician who excelled in spite of a series of family challenges, and many others across the state.
Newspaper staff from each newspaper selects an Amazing Kid from their respective coverage area. In choosing each Amazing Kid honoree, the newspapers place a heavy emphasis on volunteerism that makes a difference in the lives of other people.
Nominees can be a high school senior or younger and there is no school affiliation requirement (homeschool, charter school, etc., is OK).
