Jefferson, Deschutes counties still searching for missing man
A man who was reportedly last seen in the Madras area on March 18, Christopher Jason Cardonia, 32, remains missing, despite intensive searches west of Madras.
"Some unreliable sources claim he was last seen in the area of Birch and Clackamas," wrote Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Adkins, in an email. "We have searched the area three or four times using SAR (search and rescue) personnel."
"Other sources say he is in Portland," he continued. "We have looked at surveillance video from stores in the Portland area with negative results. Others say he is in Redmond area."
"The big problem is, he has a warrant for his arrest, so he isn't wanting to be seen or found," said Adkins. "We hope he is OK. We are working with the Deschutes County sheriff's detectives. So far, we have exhausted all leads."
"I'm not sure if he is on the run, hiding, or what is going on. Both agencies are crossing the Ts and dotting the Is," he said.
Cardonia is approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs about 170 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes, and numerous tattoos on his arms and shoulders.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported that Cardonia was last seen on foot, and does not have a vehicle, nor a cell phone. He was wearing torn jeans and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information on Cardonia should call Detective Josh Roth, of the JCSO, at 541-280-4490.
