Letters for June 5

Thanks, voters

To the Editor,

The MAC Recreation District Board of Directors would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all of the MAC Rec District supporters!

This is an amazing accomplishment for our community as the MAC Rec District will now have the ability to move towards its potential in serving the community.

We would like to give a special thanks to the MAC PAC who worked tirelessly (always with a smile) and never wavered in their enthusiasm!

Thank you, district members!

Good stories

To the Editor,

I would like to compliment the Madras Pioneer on the recent articles highlighting several of the many local Jefferson County veterans, many that have sacrificed for America beyond measure. These men and women represent all that is best of the United States.

Again, thank you for highlighting their stories.

On the Road

To the Editor,

We want to thank you and Holly Gill for the articles on our “Gang” and Rex Barber Jr. Our appreciation went out to Rex for taking time from farming to share with us about his father. It’s nice to know great men can come from small communitites.

We want to acknowledge also the many small businesses and fun places to go in the Madras area. You have opened your doors (in some cases your whole house), to share your skills with us. Our group has become better informed about Central Oregon because men and women enjoy the work they do, whether as a company or a home business.

We did get a chuckle from the elders when they found out they were paying for the van gas. It’s actually in the church budget.

Chief thanks

To the Editor,

I want to thank the community for so many well wishes while I am out on medical leave under doctors’ care for back issues. Though I have continued to have regular communication with department staff, be involved in the decision making and monitoring of daily activities, I want to say a special “thank you” to Assistant Chief Tanner Stanfill, office manager Judy Throop, detectives, patrol officers and reserve officers for their excellence in carrying on with the daily business during my temporary absence.

Again, thank you to the community for all the good thoughts and I expect to return to full duties in the near future.
