The Shaniko Wool Gathering event and Pioneer and Artisan Faire will be held July 13-14, featuring wool growers and fiber artists.

The event will include: sheep to shawl demonstrations, a historic Imperial Stock Ranch tour, market sheep/petting zoo, herding dog demonstrations, fiber artists and vendors, quilt displays and stitching crafts, modern homestead and pioneering skills, fine arts and other artisan offerings, photography and painting contests, pioneer camp and blacksmithing, Shaniko murals, museums and historic buildings.

The fundraiser dinner will be presented Saturday at 5 p.m. Food vendors will be cooking daily, and breakfast will be available both days served by the Chamber of Commerce.

New events such as the Yarn Bomb Challenge offer a fresh approach to wool and fiber events by inviting artists to display their work around town anonymously in a contest judged by the mayor of Shaniko.

The Bunnies Out West Angora Fiber Show showcases the delicate fiber produced by rabbits.

While there are limited options for lodging in Shaniko, the town does offer free RV parking and camping the on streets of the town itself, a great experience for the family.
