Letters from July 31

To the Editor,

We’re the soon-to-be owners of the home featured in the photo for the resurgence of building at Yarrow. We appreciate you featuring our home and look forward to being involved in the Madras community! In the interests of accuracy, our home is not being built by any of the builders listed in the story. Our builder is Envision NW Construction\, Inc.

To the Editor,

I want to thank everyone who helped with Jefferson County Junior Golf this year. With 26 kids signed up, it was the biggest group we’ve ever had. Dean Ditmore and Willow Creek Driving range deserve a special thank you, for the use of the driving range and access to the golf course; Teresa Lindgren at Desert Peaks for all of her organizational work; with instruction — Brian Ringering, Don Gish and Joe Stanfield.

Thanks to the Duffer and Doll committee for the donation of $300 for the purchase of golf clubs for kids who don’t have any, and to Oregon Beef for the burgers and hot dogs for our year-end celebration. Without this group of volunteers, we simply cannot do this program. Thank you all.

It was a great year with a very solid group of young golfers that were a pleasure to be around and teach the basics of the game. Thanks to all of the parents too — we really appreciate your support of the program.

To the Editor,

This morning I woke up in my house that I grew up in. It’s at the top of NE Jefferson Street. It could have burned down yesterday — it came so close, to the very edge of my fence on two sides!

But, thanks to all of our local firefighters, neighbors and friends, I will wake up many more mornings in the house I grew up in. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
