The Jefferson County Library Film Center’s 11th year has a silver lining as it brings free movies to the community.

On Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m., the movie “Silver Linings Playbook” (R), starring Robert DeNiro, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, will be shown.

Life doesn't always go according to plan. Pat Solitano has lost everything -- his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife.

When Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he'll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.

Friday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m., the comedy “Mr. Deeds Goes to Town” (NR), starring Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur, will be shown. Released in 1936, the film deals with a poet who inherits $20 million from his uncle and is promptly declared insane by all those who want a piece of the pie

The film center is located in the library’s Rodriguez Annex, 134 S.E. E St., Madras, and refreshments are available.
