Elisabeth HillAll friends and relatives of Elisabeth Rooper Hill of Culver are invited to help her celebrate her 90th birthday, at a reception from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, with cake and refreshments.

The party will be held in The Dalles, in the Celilo Room of the Shilo Inn at 3223 Brit Clodfelter Way. Cards are welcome, but no gifts, please.

She was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Redmond to Henry and Sellah Rooper and grew up on the Rooper Ranch near Antelope with siblings Marcia Rooper Mathis and Bill Rooper. 

She graduated from Dayton Union High School in 1941, and later from Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon University), in Monmouth with a degree in teaching.

On June 23, 1956, she married Fred Hill. Mrs. Hill taught school for 38 years in Hermiston, Pendleton, Klamath Falls, Grass Valley and Wasco. In 1997, she moved from Wasco to Culver. She goes south for the winter to Winterhaven, Calif.  She has three children, Al, Theresa, and Michael; seven grandchildren, Cassie, Matt, Nicholas, Jacob, Kit, Sellah, and Jolleen; and five great-grandchildren, Tylen, Maddisyn, Gracie, Abbi, and Caydence.  Mrs. Hill is involved in the Catholic Church, TOPS Club of Madras, the Madras Garden Club, and enjoys gardening, reading, and traveling.
