December movie chases glaciers

A wintery documentary and an American classic are on tap for December at the Jefferson County Library Film Center.

All movies are shown for free at 7:30 p.m., and refreshments are available at the Rodriguez Annex, 134 S.E. E St., Madras.

Friday, Dec. 6: “Chasing Ice” (PG 13). In this documentary, follow “National Geographic” photographer James Balog across the Arctic as he deploys time-lapse cameras designed for one purpose -- to capture a multiyear record of the world's changing glaciers.

Friday, Dec. 13, “The Bishop’s Wife” (NR). In this 1948 classic, a bishop trying to get a new cathedral built prays for guidance. An angel (Cary Grant) arrives, but his guidance isn't about fundraising. Loretta Young and David Niven also star in the film.
