“I’ve set up a station for people to color their own hair, trim their bangs, and do kids’ haircuts. And they will have a licensed professional there to help them out and avoid mistakes,” Macko said.

She will also professionally mix a color for them to use. “Normally, it costs $65 to have hair color done. I charge $25 for a consultation and to mix a color for them, and they can use all my equipment and towels,” she said.

With 30 years of experience, Macko has worked for multiple companies, and taught other hairdressers at Beau Mond College of Hair Design in Portland. She is licensed as a barber, hairstylist, manicurist and pedicurist and provides all those services at Color.

A grand opening will be held from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17, at Color, which is located at the former Max’s Beauty Hut at 185 S.W. D St., Suite C. Tents in the parking lot will feature free hotdogs and sausages from Zenners Sausage Co. (which uses her grandmother’s Italian sausage recipe from Sicily), a booth on the Three Rivers Humane Society project, possibly live music, and plenty of door prizes.

Color is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday; noon to 4 p.m., on Sunday, and at other times by appointment. The business phone is 503-421-0402.
