A $12,000 grand will provide the LINC group with a director for the rest of this year.

The Love In the Name of Christ service networking group, known as LINC, received a grant check for $12,000 Jan. 18, to support its hiring of a director this year.

Free Methodist Pastor Rick Russell said LINC only had funds to hire director Austin Cooper for part of a year. "Things have been going so well that St. Charles doubled its grant gift, so we could secure a director for the rest of 2018. This is the second grant from St. Charles," Russell said.

Cooper has been very active, organizing a Christmas party for low-income families, adding a Community Resource Fair to attract more people to the Point in Time Homeless Count, taking charge of the Madras Community Cleanup, and more.

"This grant also frees up donations from churches and individuals to use for LINC's other efforts," Russell said. LINC assists people with finding resources for clothing, food, housing, job searches and more.

The LINC office is open three days a week, but that may soon change. "We're looking forward to being open five days a week in the coming months, and are looking for more volunteers," Russell said.
