Blitz targets seat belt, cell phone use
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is joining the State of Oregon in a high visibility enforcement campaign dedicated to seat belt, cell phone, and traffic safety.
The campaign will be held Feb. 5-18. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will provide regular and overtime traffic enforcement to reduce the number of seat belt- and cell phone-related traffic incidents during that time.
Drivers are asked to familiarize themselves with the new seat belt (House Bill 3044 Chapter 177) and cell phone laws, (House Bill 2597), and the increased fines for cell phone driving.
