Students can explore career options with more than 25 area employers at fair.

HOLLY M. GILL - Madras High School will be the location for a Career Fair Wednesday, April 18, for MHS, Bridges Career-Technical School, and the Madras Central Oregon Community College/Oregon State University Open Campus students.Jefferson County students will have the chance to visit with area businesses and learn about career options during the 2018 Madras High School Career Fair April 18.

Students from Madras High School, Bridges Career-Technical School and the Madras Central Oregon Community College/Oregon State University Open Campus are invited to attend the first career fair to be offered in Madras in more than a decade on Wednesday, April 18, from 2-5 p.m., at Madras High School.

In an effort to accommodate the influx of students, Madras High School and Bridges students are invited to attend from 2-3:30 p.m., and then COCC/OSU students from 3:30-5 p.m.

Currently, more than 25 area employers have committed to participate in the career fair, including Bright Wood Corp., Earth2O, Indian Head Casino, KEITH Manufacturing, Wilbur Ellis, and others.

"This is great way for our community to show that we are invested in 'growing' our own employees," said Sara Puddy, human resources manager at the city of Madras. "We value local talent."

The event is a result of a community partnership between the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, city of Madras, Youth Career Connect – Jefferson County, and the 509-J School District.

Students wishing to attend the career fair will need to sign up in advance of the event at one of the following locations: MHS, Bridges Career-Technical School, COCC, Madras City Hall, or the Madras Chamber of Commerce. Parents are welcome to accompany their students.
