Culver pounds TRC competition
The Culver High School volleyball team continued its reign of dominance over the Tri-River Conference with three wins to move its record to 8-0.
On Sept. 24, it took the Bulldogs four sets to dispatch Regis (20-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-21), and then on Thursday they obliterated both Toledo (25-4, 25-6, 25-7) and Waldport (25-11, 25-11, 25-8) in Mill City.
Against Regis in Stayton, senior Gabrielle Alley unleashed 26 kills to lead all hitters. She also had 18 digs to help the defensive effort for the Bulldogs. Shealene Little had 14 kills and 17 digs, while Hannah Lewis pitched in 42 assists.
In the three-team meet at Mill City, the Bulldogs were simply too much for both Toledo and Waldport.
Culver had 54 service aces over the two-match span, and Kaylee Aldrich posted 11 of them against Waldport.
Culver soccer takes out Irrigon
The Culver High School coed soccer team used three first-half goals to earn a 3-2 victory against the visiting Irrigon Knights on Saturday.
Mikey Alonzo scored two goals, three minutes apart from each other, in the 26th and 29th minutes, and Isaias Gutierrez notched the other strike for the Bulldogs.
Culver is now 2-1 in Special District 4, and 5-2 overall.
