The Madras High School wrestling team had a rough go at the Oregon Wrestling Classic in Redmond over the weekend, picking up just one win in five duals.

After dropping their first three duals in Pool 3, the White Bufffalos were able to salvage the tournament a little bit by topping La Pine 40-39.

The Buffs received five pins against the Hawks to win their only dual of the tournament. Bryce Vincent pinned Austin Russell in the second round at 126 pounds, and then Jarred Dupont scored a second-round pin at 126 pounds.

Madras got back-to-back pins from Trevor Parsons (145) and Greg Vineyard (152), but after accepting a forfeit at 182 pounds, the Buffs fell behind by five points.

The outcome of the dual relied on heavyweight Miguel Sevilla — and the big guy delivered.

Sevilla pinned Aden Willyard-Komm in 44 seconds to give the Buffs six points and edge the Hawks by a point in the dual.

Following the dramatic win, the Buffs faced Sutherlin in the bonus round 46-36.
