Outstanding Service Award given to public works staff

The city of Newberg’s February 2014 Outstanding Service Award has been given to Public Works Superintendent Russ Thomas and the department’s staff. The award was given because the employees “went above and beyond to assist the citizens of the city of Newberg, as well as city staff, during the recent winter, snow storm emergency. They worked around the clock to clear streets and assist cars that were having difficulty navigating the roads. They even assisted in directing traffic when some vehicles were stuck. Their attention to the details and care for all was remarkable,” according to a press release. The staff includes Russ Thomas, Vance Barton, Bill Jones, George Schiele, Bryan Jones, Scott Canfield, Howard Whitman, Mike Conway, Ken Marron, Bret Sylvester, Clinton Alley, Craig Brault, Geo de Paz, Chris Kratochvil, Ray Pacini, Valerie Larmi, Jodie Hoogendam, Andrew Ehly and Jenaya Surcamp.
