A body was pulled from the Willamette River Saturday after being discovered by two kayakers at Roger’s Landing.

Capt. Tim Svenson of the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office said as of Tuesday morning the office has not been able to identify the body.

“It’s going to be a little while before we can begin to determine who it is, but we had a report a couple of months ago that someone jumped off the bridge in Salem,” Svenson said. “It’s the right time frame for those people to wash up.”

He said the body is being sent off to autopsy as well as dental comparisons to try to identify the person.

“Sometimes it can take a couple of weeks, up to about a month (to determine an identity),” he said.

The office is also searching records to see if anything on the body, such as clothing, could provide more information.
