The workers at Caravan Coffee faced a scare Aug. 19 when one of the coffee roasters caught fire. Luckily, owner Pete Miller said it was put out quickly by an employee.

“Newberg Fire responded and certified that (the) building was not damaged,” Miller said in an email.

As a precaution, an employee was taken to Providence Newberg Medical Center for smoke inhalation, but Miller said she was released without further treatment and was back at work the next day.

“The roaster is being repaired and expected to be back in full operation by (this week),” he said. “This incident did not impact our clients as we have two roasters and we were able to shift our work load onto the one.”
