Dundee man found dead in Newberg
A Dundee man was found dead at a Newberg business Saturday morning.
According to a release from the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, an employee of Reid Rental at 408 W First St. discovered an unresponsive male in the business' lot at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday and alerted police.
When officers they arrived they determined that the man was indeed dead and a detective was called in to investigate.
The man was identified as Kely J Marcotte, 53, who had been reported missing on Friday from Robins Nest adult foster care home at 220 N.W. First St. in Dundee. Staff there contacted NDPD officers at 10:13 p.m. to report that Marcotte had not returned to the facility on Friday.
Information about Marcotte was entered into a law enforcement data base and NDPD officers began searching for him in the area, but were unable to locate him.
The NDPD report indicated Marcotte died from self-inflicted knife wounds and that he suffered from "mental health issues and has attempted suicide before." The report also said Marcotte had purchased several items at a local market prior to his death, including a large kitchen knife.
The investigation is continuing.
