Nominations for Sparky Awards being accepted
Nominations are being accepted for the Sparky Awards by the state fire marshal's office and closes on Friday. To fill out a nomination form, go to http://bit.ly/2o3c85f. The Golden Sparky recognizes a fire service member or fire agency for outstanding achievement in fire prevention or public safety education.
The Silver Sparky recognizes an Oregon citizen for the same achievements.
Goodwill will host job fair at Newberg church
A multi-employer job fair will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 S. River St. Several employers from the Newberg area will be present to accept resumes. To pre-register, call 971-832-8625.

Coffee Cat gathering shoes for district's school
Coffee Cat is taking donations of gently used and new shoes for distribution throughout the Newberg school district. The coffee shop is accepting sizes toddlers through adults. Drop off the shoes from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 107 S. College St. For more information, call 503-538-5384.
City of Newberg is selling surplus street signs
The city of Newberg is selling its retired street signs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the public works maintenance office at 500 W. Third St. The division replaces worn street signs, then makes them available to the public for $5 each. They accept cash and check only. Call 503-537-1234 to schedule a pick-up time.
IRS tax forms available at the public library
The Newberg Public Library has Form 1040 and booklets and form 1040EZ for pick up from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday's through Thursday's, from noon to 5 p.m. Friday's and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday's. Girl Scout Cookies are back again
Girl Scout cookie sales start Friday and end March 11 at locations throughout Newberg with 100 percent of the revenue earned from cookie sales to remain within the local region and helps with camp adventures.
