Kaleb Villarreal faces Multiple Measure 11 charges after his arrest in January

VillarrealTrial will begin April 24 for the Newberg man accused of sexually abusing a young boy over the course of more than seven months in 2016 and 2017.

Kaleb Dominic Hendricks Villarreal was arrested in January after detectives from the Beaverton Police Department were alerted in December of the possible abuse. The BPD officers then alerted detectives from the Newberg-Dundee Police Department after information surfaced that Villarreal possessed video recordings of his abuse of an underage victim.

"From September 23, 2016, to April 4, 2017, Kaleb Hendricks Villarreal made eight digital video recordings, of six different episodes, of himself orally sodomizing a child victim …," NDPD Officer Clay Sheldon wrote in a probable cause affidavit submitted Jan. 3. "The recordings were located on a phone which belongs to Hendricks-Villarreal and are date and time stamped and also geo location tagged at apartments (on College Street)."

"Hendricks-Villarreal's face is visible in several of the videos and I recognize him as the person in the videos from viewing other photos of Hendricks-Villarreal. The child victim has been identified from the videos and was less than 12 years old at the time of the recordings."

Villarreal was indicted in January by a grand jury on six counts each of first-degree sodomy, using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct and second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. All of the charges are Measure 11 crimes, carrying with them stiff mandatory sentences should Hendricks be found guilty.

Villarreal was originally represented by McMinnville attorney J. Mark Lawrence, then John Tyner and now Abraham Hanson. He is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kate Lynch.

Villarreal was arraigned in January and his bail was set at $500,000. He remains in custody at the Yamhill County jail after waving his right to a speedy trial in January. Yamhill County Circuit Court Judge Ladd Wiles will preside over the trial.
