Philanthropy — Summertime Salud! ?raises funds to benefit vineyard workers in addition to fall event, money provides healthcare

It its second year, Summertime ¡Salud! is growing. Raising money for healthcare services for vineyard workers and their families, the event will now host 18 wineries and have room for 200 people to attend.

“We sold out at 150 people (last year) and it was an amazing night,” said Maria McCandless, foundation manager for Tuality Healthcare.

Held at Stoller Family Estate, the event includes wine tasting and a large, family style dinner from Jory.

“There will be many large format and specialty bottles in the marketplace store for people to purchase. Guests will also have the option to buy mixed six-pack of current release pinot noirs from the participating wineries,” McCandless said in an email. “All wines for the marketplace have been donated and 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales directly benefit the program.”

Last year, she said they raised $55,000, and hope to increase that amount this year.

“The food and the location were spectacular and guests seemed to really have a great time,” she said. “We have a lot of repeat attendees this year.”

The summer version of ¡Salud! is in addition to the November event, which started in 1992. This year, it has a “new vision,” relocating the event traditionally held in Portland to the Chehalem Valley.

“We’ve brought the entire event to wine country, which will bring guests closer to our mission and to enjoy wine country over the entire weekend,” McCandless said.

Summertime ¡Salud! starts at 5:30 p.m. July 24. Tickets are $175, with $75 of the price tax deductible. For more information or to buy tickets visit www.salud
