Art scene — 10-year-old Olivia Osborn will be a featured artist at this month's Art Walk

Among the assorted artists featured at Friday’s Art Walk, will be 10-year-old Olivia Osborn. Although the youngest artist to have work displayed, this isn’t her first time. She was featured at American Family Insurance last year FILE PHOTO - Young talent -- Featured for the second time, now 10-year-old Olivia Osborn will show pieces during the First Friday Art Walk at American Family Insurance.

“She’s a very talented girl,” said Angie Stevens, marketing director. “It’s really fun to see how much she’s matured this year.”

Jessica Cain, Osborn’s mother, said her daughter just loves to draw.

“She’s been taking lessons probably two and a half years now with a local art teacher,” Cain said. “She does mostly wildlife, animals, that kind of thing.”

As a fourth-grade student at Antonia Crater Elementary, Cain said this year her daughter is most excited about understanding the business aspect of selling her work.

“It’s important for her because she gets to learn the business side of it,” she said. “She loves it.”

In addition to some original pieces, pencil sketches primarily, Osborn will have notecards available with some pieces featured. The same cards she’s been selling at the winter markets the past two years.

Stevens said they look forward to hosting Osborn again.

“Last year it was one of the year’s best attended (Art Walks),” she said.

Osborn will join other artists around town including James Frey, Gary Buhler and Christine Swanson when Art Walk starts at 5 p.m. Friday.
