Art Walk gears up for a busy season
With summer coming to a close, First Friday Art Walk is about to get a lot busier.
Summer is not really our big time because theres lots of other stuff going on, said Sally Dallas, event co-coordinator. But I think all and all weve had some good attendance.
This included adding some visitors to the downtown event who were from other areas.
Kids are back in school, people are back from vacation, then its like now what do we do? Art Walk, she said. Thats kind of how it seems to work.
This months event is Friday with a few additions.
Honest Chocolates is doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Dallas said. They lost a brother in 2000 to ALS. All the money sold that night will go to the (Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins), which is actually named for him.
That event is at 5 p.m. at Honest Chocolates with sales continuing through the evening for donation.
Theres also a new member this month, Chehalem Valley Presbyterian Church. Critter Cabana will also feature art, which Dallas said is unusual.
They dont have a great place to show art, she said. But theyve got Kari Knight, who owns Vine Gogh Artists Bar, where you drink wine and paint.
The Chehalem Cultural Center will not participate this month and will return in October.
