Northside Community Church will once again welcome renowned pianist Michael Allen Harrison and vocalist Julianne Johnson for its annual holiday concert, "A Christmas to Remember," at 7 p.m. Dec. 6. Thanksgiving dinner

Newberg Christian Church's Community Kitchen will serve a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.  The church is calling donation of turkeys, stuffing and green beans to help us meet the needs of the community. For more information, call 503-538-3104.

Christmas Cantata

returns for 31st season

The 2017 Community Christmas Cantata Choir will perform "My Heart Longs For Christmas" for its 31st season, which will run from Nov. 29 to Dec. 22. The 60-minute program weaves the Christmas Story in narration with traditional, uplifting and upbeat Christian music. Three shows will be held in Newberg, beginning with a 7 p.m. performance Dec. 9 at Newberg Church of the Nazarene. Newberg Christian Church will host a 7 p.m. show Dec. 15 and Joyful Servant Lutheran Church will host the final Newberg performance at 3 p.m. Dec. 16. The show will also make stops in McMinnville, Monmourth, Sherwood, Dayton and Amity.

The five-part non-denominational choir typically includes 30-50 voices along with narrators, American Sign Language interpreters, bells, percussion, guitar, synthesizer, and other instruments. The choir has raised more than $146,000 for YCAP and other local food banks over the past 13 years.
