Commission selects new chairman, vice-chairman

The Newberg Planning Commission selected a new chair, Phillip Smith, and vice chair, Ron Wolfe, at its Jan. 11 meeting.

GARY ALLEN - Work crews demolish the Performing Arts Center Feb. 1 on the former C.S. Lewis Academy campus on Wynooski Street. Local developers Marc Willcuts and Todd Saunders are planning to construct a 13-lot housing subdivision on the 1.02-acre portion of the campus, which they purchased this past fall.

Art Harvest Studio Tour accepting applications

Applications for the Art Harvest Studio Tour are now available and can be downloaded from the website at www.artharveststudiotour.org.

NHS hosting career conference for girls

Newberg High School will host "Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 24 in the library.

The event will provide guidance for girls interested in going to college, setting and achieving career goals, as well as access to professional role models and mentors. Application forms are available at the NHS College and Career Center.

Mayor will speak at Dundee Community Center

Dundee Mayor David Russ will give a talk headlined the "Future of Dundee" at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dundee Community Center, 1026 S.W. Highway 99W.
