The Chehalem Aquatic Center is offering a wide variety of programming in August, including swim lesson, a junior lifeguard camp and family swims.
Registration is open for the next session of regular group learn-to-swim lesions, which run Monday through Friday for two weeks beginning next week.
All age groups and skill levels are available from Parent & Tot through Level 6; from age 12 months through adult. Most lessons are 30 minutes each. Small Group session 4-A also kicks of on Aug. 7 and meets Monday to Friday for one week. Packages begin at $51 for district residents (or $61 for non-residents)
The aquatic center is also accepting new clients for private swim lessons, which feature a one-on-one teaching format where the lesson structure is modified to meet each client's needs. Session 4-A private lessons will run Monday through Friday next week. Cost is $19/$23 per lesson for district residents. Call 503-537-2909 to be placed on the appointment list.
The CPRD Junior Lifeguard Camp for swimmers ages 11 to 14 years old will run from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday next week. The camp will cover lifeguard and water rescue techniques, first-aid and pool operations. The class can be a stepping stone toward national certification programs. Cost is $71/$81 and registration is required.
The pool's tradition of family recreation swims continues this month with sessions from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sundays and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Bring the entire family (a single set of parents/guardians and their children age 18 year and younger) to the pool for $8 (free with pool membership). Diving board, water slides and rope swing are available.
