The Newberg School District is offering a Jump Start Camp for kindergarten and first-grade students from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 19-22 at Dundee, Edwards, Joan Austin and Mabel Rush elementary schools.
The goal is ensure students are well prepared for the school year by providing the opportunity to learn school routines, including walking in a line, sitting at a table, sitting at group time, and bus and recess protocols, in a small-group setting.
Classrooms will also provide instruction in literacy, math and socialization.
Only kindergarten and first grade students enrolled at the four elementary schools are eligible to participate in the program, which is funded through a grant from the Yamhill County Early Learning Hub.
Enrollment will be based on a first come first serve basis and families are responsible for transportation.
