Larry Glenn Dowers

November 29, 1935 - February 26, 2014-

Larry Glenn Dowers, of Madras, passed away at the age of

78 from a battle with Parkinson’s with Lewy Body Disease.

Larry Dowers was born on November 29, 1935 to Glenn and Irene Dowers of Caldwell, Idaho. He grew up in Nyssa and moved to Madras when the water came to Agency Plains around 1949. Larry graduated from Madras Union High School in 1953.

On January 9, 1955, he married Janet Bierman in Madras. They moved to Dyer, Nev. In 1986 until 2007 when he came back to retire.

Larry was a master farmer; he loved turning bare ground into flourishing farm ground. He did many things in his lifetime. Larry was a Regional Director in Farm Bureau Insurance. He developed sagebrush into hay fields in Fort Rock, Ore.; Ravendale, Cali. And Railroad and Fishlake Valley in Nevada. He has left a legacy to his children and grandchildren. Larry was a member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; son’s Bill and Amy Dowers of Tonopah, Nev.; Rod and Maria Dowers of Dyer, Nev.; Mark

and Stacey Dowers of Winnemucca, Nev.; daughter Tami DuPont of Madras; sisters Pat Scott of Emmitt, Id.; Janice Fleming of Klamath Falls; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren with three on the way.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; mother, Irene; and a grandson, Tylor.

Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A public graveside service was held March 4 at Mount Jefferson Memorial Park in Madras.
