Allan L. Wendlandt

May 2, 1923-April 29, 2014

WendlandtAllan L. Wendlandt, “Al” a longtime resident of Scappoose passed away on April 29, in his home surrounded by family and close friends.

Al was born in Reardan, Washington, on May 2, 1923. He had two brothers which preceded him, and a sister, Ruth Trtek, whom still resides in Scappoose.

He left behind a loving wife, Ginney; three children, Alene Roy, Allan Wendlandt Jr. and Lonnie Wendlandt; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Al enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, his garden and reading, but his favorite times were always being in the company of friends and family.

He was also a member of the local Moose Lodge.

Al moved to the Scappoose area about 1949 when he bought land and a farm and started raising chicken for the Swift company.

After years of construction and driving school buses locally he became an employee at Freightliner in Portland, and converted his farm, himself, into a mobile home park of 40 spaces. In his spare time!

A private “celebration of life” was held on Saturday, May 3, for family and friends at his home.
