Richard Douglas Goodling

Richard Douglas Goodling, 69, died Jan. 14, 2014 at his residence in Prineville. No services are planned at this time.

Richard was born Aug. 14, 1944 in Rockford, Ill. to Benjamin Leon and Madalynne (Bahnsen) Goodling. The family moved to Oregon when he was two years old, and he spent most of his life in Central Oregon.

Richard graduated from Corbett High School in 1962 and from Reed College in 1964, where he studied Pre-Veterinary Medicine. He became a business owner dealing in Direct Retail Sales.

He was an avid musician, fisherman and outdoorsman and was loyally devoted to his horses and dogs. He dearly loved his family and friends and touched many other lives as well. He encouraged success in all the people he knew and was a skilled mentor who saw the best in everyone.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita Goodling; Daughters, Kelly Goodling Riley and her husband Timothy and Terri Goodling; Son, Scott Goodling; Grandson, Tyler Nilsson; Great-Grandson, Riley Nilsson and Great Granddaughter, Raelyn Laree Nilsson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Mildred Westlake, two great-grandparents, two grandparents, two uncles and a nephew.
