Harvey Loyd Bishop
March 21, 1920 - June 21, 2014
Harvey Loyd Bishop passed away on June 21, 2014 at his home in Prineville at the age of 94. Mr. Bishop was born on March 21, 1920 in Newcastle, Neb. to Harvey and Myrtle Bishop.
In 1932, the Bishop family of five loaded their 1927 Chevy left South Dakota and headed west for Oregon. Their first night in Oregon was in Prineville on Halloween. They crossed the Cascade Mountains in the snow and settled in the Junction City area where Harvey spent the next 65 years. He served in the Army in WWII as an Airplane Mechanic, Honorably Discharged in 1946. In 2000, Harvey moved to Prineville to enjoy the High Desert.
He is survived by his sister Lucille Munson of Portland, Ore; sister in law Betty J. Bishop of Springfield, Oregon and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years Oleeta Pope, a brother Frank D. Bishop and second wife, Betty Q. Anstine.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Prineville Christian Church. Private burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Eugene, Oregon. Baird Funeral Home of Bend assisted the family with arrangements.
