Leona L. Walker, a resident of Prineville, passed away on on July 10, 2014, in Bend, Ore. She was 61 years of age.

Leona was born on Dec. 19, 1952, in Rigby, Idaho, and was the daughter of Norman and Josephine Baker (Smith). She graduated from Bonneville High School in 1971.

On Jan. 16, 1971, in Ammon, Idaho, she married Ted Walker. The couple lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho, until Ted was employed by Les Schwab Tire Center in 1988. They have lived in Prineville ever since. Leona held several jobs in the community: Arctic Circle, Sprouse Rietz, Ericksons Sentry, and the Prineville Bi-Mart. She loved working with the public and meeting new people.

Leona loved watching her grandchildren playing sports. Her grandchildren were truly her passion. Among her other passions and hobbies were photography of old barns, flowers and places her and Ted went traveling. Leona and Ted just recently traveled to Arizona for the Mariners spring training. She also enjoyed: gardening, crafting, baking, cooking, NASCAR and watching her Mariners. Her most noteworthy accomplishments were being married 43 years to Ted and raising her four children.

Leona is survived by her husband, Ted, of Prineville; sons, Steve (Kristy) and Dustin (Loida), Bill (Aly); daughter, Tara; brothers, Michael (Vesta) and Andy (Sue); and 13 grandchildren. Leona was preceded in death by her parents Norman and Josephine Baker, and one brother, Harold Baker.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of St. Charles Medical Center Bend in the IMCU and ICU, for your compassion and caring during Leona’s brief illness. Those wishing to make memorial contributions in her name, please send them to the American Cancer Society.
