It appears Gaston and Vernonia are the two best teams in the Northwest League.

The Greyhounds took a huge step towards a Northwest League championship Saturday, May 6, then a bit of a step back in the second game of a doubleheader versus league undefeated Vernonia at Pacific University.

Gaston – trailing Vernonia by a game in the league standings following their 6-5 loss to the Loggers May 2 – defeated the first place visitors 9-0 in game-one, then came up a bit short in a late inning comeback bid in game-two, 10-8.
