Businesses & offices beware of this scam

CARTRIDGE-NETWORK - Griffin HampsonRecently, I heard from several business customers about a phone call they received saying, "I'm calling to verify the printers in use". Each customer asked several questions & concluded it wasn't Cartridge Network calling.

Repeatedly over years, these "boiler rooms" have been shut down by various state Attorney Generals, usually after long, exhaustive examinations & millions of dollars have been scammed.

Once the caller has the printer models, he asks to go ahead with "the regular order". A case of cartridges is delivered with an invoice for 300% or more than usual pricing. Often the invoice is entered into the system and paid. Oooops!

One restaurant chef had unknowingly "ordered a case" of black/red ribbons at 400% over regular pricing! The manager called & was told "the call was recorded & if not paid it would go to collections & their credit rating would be trashed". The manager asked for the person's name & mentioned he was having dinner with his cousin, who works in the Attorney General's office. The phone went dead. Never heard from them again.

To avoid such scams, find a good reliable vendor. Designated contacts and purchase orders are a good procedure.

Cartridge Network a full-service independent, non-franchise operation, sells & services printers and copiers. "We stock dozens of different printer models (inkjet and laser) & copiers too. We focus on a buyer's needs & then explore alternatives to best meet their needs." We stock several thousand different cartridges. Shipping is free.
